Gardening has always been to the forefront in St. Catherine's NS from its inception.
Our first principal, Dotti Wynne, believed in the positive affect gardening and being outdoors has on our well being and learning. We have planted, harvested and cooked our produce to the delight of both the teachers and students over the years.
Mr O Se continued this and ensured our trees were not cut down during the new build and in planning the new purpose build extension for our three Autism Classes and shared spaces.
Now Ms Dunne forges ahead with continuing to build links to our community through the community garden.
This community spirit is interwoven into the ethos of St. Catherine’s NS, and we are blessed to have the opportunities to nourish this intergenerationally through ties with the community.
Mary Ryan from the community garden has been collecting seeds from some native trees for the children to study throughout the year. The community garden of St. Catherine’s estate is just outside the school gates.
Living the our core values of respect and kindness through looking after our environment and making friends along the way.
